Thanksgiving Fundraiser Names
A good alternative to a Thanksgiving party is to celebrate the national holiday with an event that addresses the welfare and well-being of the community. In my community, we always put together Thanksgiving meal baskets that are distributed to people.
I think part of what makes this holiday so special is it’s about appreciating everything you have and passing on blessings to other people.

What is the Meaning of the Thanksgiving Holiday?
In Western countries such as the US and Canada, Thanksgiving is considered a national holiday that falls on various dates, depending on the country. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the US and the second Monday in October. This year November 24th marks the date of celebration in the United States.
Thanksgiving is historically a celebration of gratitude for bountiful harvests and blessings of the preceding year. Historically, it’s patterned after harvest feasts shared between the British colonists and the Wampanoag Native Americans.

When it comes to modern Thanksgiving celebrations there are a number of traditions in our household. It begins early in the morning by prepping, seasoning, and basting the turkey. Then I stick the bird in the oven for a few hours and wait for the incredible smells to kick in.
At this point in the morning, I typically kick on the fireplace and turn on the Macy’s Day parade that my daughters always enjoy checking out. Later in the day, we’ll usually have some football games in the background and possibly the traditional dog show.
If you know someone that doesn’t have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving, I encourage you to invite them over for dinner. No one wants to be alone at home on Thanksgiving. Also, don’t forget to take time to reflect on all the blessings you’ve had over the course of the year.
