This has been a friend favorite for years. The game starts with a group exploring a creepy old house. Tiles are flipped revealing the rooms, items, omens and events. Eventually the house will possess one explorer and the haunt begins. The turned explorer is given a separate rule book and usually leaves the room to devise a strategy. The remaining heroes read their instruction manual and prepare to fight the traitor. There are 50 possible haunts in this addition, so it can be played over and over with very different twists. We have a house rule that every card must be read dramatically which always reveals a new side of friends. 🙂

I have this game and it’s a lot of fun. For those wondering about the gameplay – it’s easy to learn for beginners. Each person has a “character” and they spend the first part of the game exploring a haunted house (laying down tiles as they go to create the “board”). As rooms are revealed they have items/omens/events, and as more of these get discovered you get closer to part 2 of the game.

Part two is when someone fails a roll and triggers a “haunt” in which one player is a traitor and the others have to work to stop them. Each game is different, and the house is never the same twice! Lots of fun!
