What you need to know

  • Nintendo has been branching out to introduce their IPs in other kinds of games.
  • A new Monopoly board with an Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme has surfaced online.
  • This new board allows players to sell resources and earn Nook Miles.

After rumors swirling around the internet, it's finally real. Nintendo and Hasbro have collaborated once again to make a new, special edition version of the classic property trading game, Monopoly. Except this time, it's got an incredibly endearing Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme.

With four adorable player tokens resembling different human island inhabitants, players can roll a special Nook's Cranny die alongside the regular six-sided die, allowing them to go around the board in classic Monopoly fashion. This time around, however, they'll be collecting resource tokens, such as bugs, fish, and fruit, instead of property. After all, it would be kind of mean to evict your fellow animal neighbors. Except with a net... right?

Another feature of this themed board allows players to collect skill cards after making their way around the Monopoly board, granting them a skill they can use throughout the rest of the game. It's a fun, simplified twist to the Monopoly formula, that any child over the age of eight can enjoy.
