Monster Couch studio has announced that they will be releasing a digital adaption of Flatout Game’s Calico for steam!
We are huge fans of the board game and I cannot wait to see how the digital game plays. In the game, players are tasked with creating a quilt by combining colored and patterned fabric scraps. You can earn points from clever placement, but also for sewing on buttons and attracting cuddly cats by fulfilling their pattern requirements.
According to the press release, the digital game will allow players to compete against each other multiplayer gameplay, play solo, or engage a story mode about a tailor battling a large corporation.
- Multiplayer, during which you can invite friends or play ranked matches against random players. Online gameplay will include weekly challenges and player rankings.
- Solo mode allows you to face AI of varying difficulty levels and is the perfect tool to hone your skills in a relaxed atmosphere
- Story mode campaign. An extraordinary world inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli awaits you. Here cats can shatter even the most stone-cold hearts. Take on the role of an itinerant tailor who travels the war-stricken world and sews quilts. Stand up to a ruthless corporation that threatens your guild. Create quilts, perfect your craft and help those you meet on your journey.
In Quilts & Cats of Calico, the cats actively respond to your choices and will wander around doing cat-like things, running around, napping, and getting in your way.
As a bonus, you’ll be able to add your own cat, giving it a name and choosing the color of its fur as well as embarrassing your cat by putting different outfits on it. The game also allows you to change the background of the game and choose different quilt patterns.
While you play, you can enjoy the music created by Pawel Gorniak, the composer responsible, among others, for the soundtrack in Wingspan. The soundtrack adds to the relaxing feel for the game.
The release date is still a mystery, buy you can follow along with all the news and updates for Quilts & Cats of Calico by signing up for their newsletter here.
