Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

Watch this amazing BBC video of the world’s oldest doll, made in the 1770’s by a Swiss clockmaker. It is worth watching because the doll is so perfect and beautiful.  He writes real letters on paper and his eyes move appropriately.  Very cool!

Are you a west coast resident, or a soon-to-be visitor?  Maybe you’ve done the San Francisco to Los Angeles drive, but have you driven to the Pacific Northwest?  Here is a guide for that trip.  It discusses the routes and gives you favorite stops along the way.  Redding, CA offers a fabulous coffee shop and a book and music shop. The writer recommends Lake Shasta which looks gorgeous, and lots more helpful information to make the trip fun and delicious.

Are you a Sudoku (logic-based number placement puzzle) fan?  If so, meet ColorKu, a wooden board game with holes that hold wood marbles of different colors.  The game play is just like Sudoku but here you play with others.  It comes with 100 starting games and solutions, but if you want to use your own, you can convert Sudoku games by assigning numbers to the colors. There are five levels of difficulty. It is best for ages 8 and up.  $47.99.

Do you know what ‘Love Bombing’ is?  I thought I did until I did some research.  It sounds lovely, and I assumed it was showing someone that you were head over heels crazy about them.  It is that, except carried to a dangerous extreme.  It happens when someone completely overwhelms you with actions, words, and behavior to show their love, and is usually used as a manipulation technique. This is where your inner antennae need to be listened to.  Go with your instincts, not with the love bombing.  Here are some signs:

You are lavished with gifts – often inappropriately.  An example would be sending enormous bouquets of flowers to your job, or giving you gifts after knowing you for only a short time. Another annoying example is your love bomber plans a trip, or an excessive night out and then does not take ‘no’ for an answer.

You receive endless compliments.  Constant praise sounds insincere after a while, especially if the person doesn’t really know you well.  Be wary! Don’t become the victim of emotional abuse.

You are bombarded with texts and phone calls. This is not unusual in a new relationship, but if it becomes overwhelming it’s a red flag.

They want your undivided attention.  It’s a red flag if they don’t want to meet your friends or family, or if they become petulant when you are on the phone with friends or talking with others at a party.

Experts say that Love Bombers are often narcissists who want to draw you in and gain control over you. If early in a relationship you are overwhelmed by needy demands, talk of a commitment and being soulmates, check in with your inner antennae.
