UK Games Expo success for Coiledspring as its portfolio secures multiple award wins

It was an almighty return to in-person board gaming that Coiledspring Games observed over the weekend, when it witnessed multiple titles from its portfolio of tabletop games secure major wins at the UK Games Expo People’s Choice and Judges Choice Awards.

No fewer than five of the titles it currently distributes to the UK took home nine of the coveted accolades over the weekend, as the UK Games Expo made what has been hailed as a triumphant return to in-person eventing since the lifting of government restrictions.

Titles from Scorpion Masque, Blue Orange, IELLO, and Hub Games each secured Judges Awards and People’s Choice Awards during the event that ran from July 30th to August 1st this year, operating under strict health and safety measures.

While exhibitor space and crowd numbers operated at reduced capacity, the show has been hailed a success and a welcome return for the convention scene. Despite the smaller crowds, the buzz around the UK Games Expo Awards still managed to be felt across the show, as it honoured some of the best titles and gaming accessories in the space today.

The People’s Choice award for Best New Abstract Game went to Flash 8 from Scorpion Masque, while Blue Orange secured the People’s Choice award in the Best New Children’s Game Category for its already award-winning Dragonimo.

The People’s Choice for the Best New Family Game went to Scorpion Masque’s Zombie Teenz Evolution, while it was 50 Clues Part 1 that took home the People’s Choice Best New Party Game.

Among the Judges Award winners, IELLO secured the Best New Board Game American Style for Kitara (also a recipient of a People’s Choice Award in the same category), as well as Best New Card Game Strategic for Schotten Totten 2. Finally, Hub Games took home the Best New Board Game Strategic Style win for its popular Prisma Arena.

“We are delighted that so many of our products have been recognised at the UK Games Expo awards,” Gemma Briant, product and marketing manager at Coiledspring Games, told ToyNews.

“To come away with nine awards from five of our partners was the perfect way to finish a lovely weekend of demoing. We’re passionate about the games we represent and playtest to ensure we bring the best to the market.

“It was great to get back to real life shows and being able to demonstrate our products. Other stand out games from the weekend include Unmatched, Photosynthesis with the Under the Moonlight expansion, and Meeple Land.”
